Staff of the Pastor

Staff of the Pastor - History

In 1993, a group of Minnesota Baptist Conference pastors and laymen established Staff of the Pastor Foundation. It was born out of the need for confidential help for pastors and their families who found themselves dealing with emotional, relational and mental-health issues.

There was a recognizable need for financial help to pay for appropriate counsel. There was also a need for information and recommendation of services available.

Often, however, the overriding issue was one of confidentiality. For many pastors and their families it seemed safer to struggle alone than to ask for help and risk criticism and loss of trust, friends and ministry.

Staff of the pastor has been carefully structuctured to provide:

  • a comfortable first contact for help
  • recommended options
  • financial assistance when needed
  • confidentiality before, during and after any counseling program
